Given that cytosolic CRAT-generated acetyl-CoA can produce malonyl-CoA, an inhibitor of fatty acid oxidation [1, 33], we speculate that, in addition to the suppression of mitochondrial biogenesis by increasing acetyl-CoA-mediated acetylation of PGC-1, the anti-tumoral activity of CRAT may also be partially achieved by inhibiting fatty acid oxidation, which still needs further investigation
